Hey everyone,

Due to suggestions by people in the community, I think it would be a great idea to have our first ever Qcodo Townhall Meeting to have an open, real-time =) forum to discuss the current state and the future direction of Qcodo, as well as some specifics on the technical architecture for the javascript and AJAX related things for users that are wanting to / hoping to implement some more sophisticated RIA-like controls.

Let's plan on scheduling this for:
Thursday, June 1, 2006 at 9 AM PDT (GMT -8)

If anyone knows of a free, web-based group chat service that we could use to host this, please let me know (I was originally thinking of using Campfire, but their free service only allows up to 4 people -- in case more people want to join, i don't think this is enough).

Does everyone have AOL Instant Messenger?  If so, I could set up a chat room on AIM and people can join in.

Please post back with any suggestions, or also post back an alternate meeting time if you are desparately needing to / wanting to attend this, but can't make that time.

I'll be sure to post the final chatroom / connection instructions information in the forum before the actual meeting.

Hi!

I set up a chatserver with up to 250 concurrent users here : http://qcodo_cvs.box3.prosjektweb.net/chat/

It also supports logging, so we could post the chatlog.

So if you want to use this, I will lend it out for free :)

Only requirement is that people have Flash installed.

Thanks Martin!  How does that sound for people?

I see the chatbox, but all text and labels aren't visable (I'm using Firefox @ Fedora Core 5) You might want to fix that :)

No problems here (W2K and XP both with IE).

I will be present...

regards,
Kristof

The chatbox is not my creation, and I do not have the source. I have not tested it in firefox for linux, but it works in firefox for windows.

It may be because it supports multiple languages, so I set the language to always be english, so maybe it works now?

Slammer for FC5:

You can workaround this problem in the short-term by using these commands as root.

       mkdir -p /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fs/
       ln -s /etc/X11/fs/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fs/config

In Debian-based distros you can fix the same problem installing “gsfonts-x11” with apt

I'm using Ubuntu Dapper with Firefox 1.5.0.3 and can see the whole thing without problems.

It might be good to come up with a quick agenda of what we would like to cover.  I personally would like to solicit ideas on the following topics:

- Creating a “Forge” for community created Qcodo projects (controls, db adapters, etc)
- Extending the Qcodo javascript to handle sortable lists

Sounds good.  Other than just updating what we've been working on and plan to work on in the next couple of weeks, I personally don't have any specific agenda items -- this is more a forum for us to get feedback from users to see what people want, etc.  So yes, we definitely would welcome any other agenda items or ideas that people would want to have discussed.

In terms of the meeting, the details:
Thursday, June 1, 2006 at 9 AM PDT (GMT -8)

To join, we will use Martin's chat server at:
<http://qcodo_cvs.box3.prosjektweb.net/chat/>
Note: You will need to have Flash installed

(As a backup, in case the server or connectivity is down, if you have AOL/AIM you can use your AIM account to join the qcodotownhall chat room.  To join a chatroom, you can simply use the “Invite Users to Chat...” functionality, and invite yourself into the qcodotownhall chat room.)
